Spray tanning is becoming increasingly popular as a healthier, UV-free alternative to sunbeds. It gives your skin a natural, even tan, equivalent to three to five sunbed sessions. A fine mist of professional self-tanner develops into a streak-free result within a few hours. Depending on your skin type and aftercare, it lasts five to ten days and leaves your skin with a fresh, sun-kissed glow.

Before and after your treatment:
During your treatment:
1–2 days before:
On the day:
A fine tanning lotion is sprayed evenly onto the skin. Its active ingredient, a type of sugar, reacts with the proteins and amino acids in the outermost layer of the skin. This creates melanoidins, which resemble the body’s natural tanning pigments and give your skin an even, sun-kissed glow without patches. The tan becomes visible within a few hours and then reaches its full intensity. As the outer layer of skin renews itself regularly, the tan fades gradually and naturally.
Straight after your tan:
Your first shower:
In the following days:
Depending on your skin type and aftercare, your tan will last around 5–10 days. How long it lasts depends on your skin type and age, as well as good preparation beforehand and proper aftercare. The tan develops only in the outermost layer of the skin, which renews itself in a natural cycle: new skin cells form while old ones are shed. Dry skin renews faster, so the tan also fades more quickly.
The tanning lotion should stay on your skin for at least 6–8 hours to develop fully.
After about 8 hours, the tanning process is complete. The reaction between the active ingredient (DHA) and the outer layer of skin can’t intensify any further. Leaving the lotion on longer, for example overnight, is generally harmless.
However, two things may happen:
That’s why it’s best to stick to the recommended development time for the most beautiful, even shade.
If you rinse it off earlier (e.g. after 4–5 hours instead of 8), your tan may not develop fully. The result will be lighter and may not last as long.
